The PDP Xbox One controllers can work on a Windows PC. If the controller does not work immediately upon connecting to a PC, then you may need to update.
Based on the description, I am sorry to know that you are getting an error “unable to install driver software' and the device manager says 'this device cannot start (code 10)'.
I am sure this could be frustrating. Please be assured that we are here to guide you in the right direction.
The Code 10 error pertains mainly to hardware and device driver issues or to compatibility issues between hardware drivers and additional software that is installed in Windows. Therefore, we recommend that you troubleshoot these issues by focusing on device drivers, on device configuration issues, and on hardware compatibility issues. Hi,
I have a wired Xbox 360 controller which works fine on my Xbox 360. When I connect it to my Windows 10 laptop, it is recognized. But when I connect it to my Windows 7 64-bit desktop, on which I want to use it, it is not recognized.
Here is what happens:
1. The green ring on the controller blinks on and off
2. Driver software installation window says 'Device driver software was not successfully installed' and 'No driver found' next to Controller
3. Device Manager shows under 'Other devices' a 'Controller' device with a yellow exclamation mark on its icon.
4. None of the following are shown in the Device Manager (which should according to here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-controller-for-windows-help):
Human Interactive Devices
- HID-compliant game controller
- USB Human Interface Device
Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class:
- Xbox 360 Controller for Windows
I have already:
1. Downloaded and installed the Xbox 360 Accessories Software 1.2 64-bit for Windows 7 from the MS Hardware website. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times.

2. Tried various USB ports on my desktop, both front and back, both USB 2.0 and 3.0
3. Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter as suggested here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/wired-xbox-360-controller-to-pc-problem-please/b1c4b44e-8482-4630-88e4-da368eb8d650

4. Tried Update Driver Software from within Device Manager
5. Uninstalled the 'Controller' device and reconnected the controller
all these have failed and led to the same results. Can anyone suggest what else to try?
